The Vibe
What kind of escape is Carawirry?
A peaceful, private forest retreat on ~250 acres — cabins, a cottage and a house tucked among trees, birdsong and starry nights. It’s for couples, friends and families who want simple comfort, quiet and nature.
Who is it not for?
Big parties or bring‑the‑dog trips. We have a strict 9 p.m.–9 a.m. quiet time and no pets policy.
What can we do while we’re there?
Bushwalking & Wildlife Spotting – Wander forest trails, breathe in the fresh eucalypt air, and keep an eye out for wallabies, lyrebirds, and the occasional echidna.
Outdoor Bathhouse Bliss – Two deep soaking tubs under the stars, surrounded by towering gums and total tranquillity.
Campfire Nights & Stargazing – Toast marshmallows, swap stories, and watch the Milky Way light up the night sky.
Swimming in the Creek – Refresh in crystal-clear water, just a short stroll from your cabin.
Cycling Trails – Bring your bike and ride through winding bush tracks, past ancient gums and fern-filled gullies.
Comforts & Inclusions
What’s included inside?
Cosy linen and towels, a fully equipped kitchen (oven, cooktop, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, cookware/utensils, plates/glassware), Nespresso (standard pods), and pantry staples (salt, pepper, oil, tea, coffee pods, sugar). Smart TV and Starlink Wi‑Fi for easy streaming.
Do you supply firewood?
Yes — for outdoor fire pits and indoor fireplaces at all cabins, plus the wood‑fired hot tub at The Gum Leaf Cabin. Each stay includes six (6) firelighter cubes, kindling and a box of matches. Important: In warmer months (typically Nov–Mar) we don’t supply indoor fireplace materials; firelighters/matches for the outdoor firepit are under the kitchen sink.
Is there a BBQ?
Yes — a gas (LPG) BBQ with utensils at each accommodation.
Is the tap water drinkable?
Yes — tank‑captured rainwater, filtered twice. If you’d prefer, you’re welcome to bring bottled water.

Dungog has great options — Settlers Arms, Tinshed Brewery, Royal Hotel. We’ll share more favourites in your guidebook.

Hunter Valley Wineries (30-minute drive) – Sip, swirl, and savour world-class wines at boutique cellar doors. (Pairs perfectly with a sunset on your deck.)
Farm-to-Table Dining – Enjoy the region’s best produce, from cosy bakeries to fine dining with a view.
Wildlife Sanctuaries – Meet koalas, wombats, and kangaroos up close at local conservation parks.
Dungog (16km away) – Stock up at the supermarket, bottle-o, butcher, or grab a coffee before heading back to your cabin.

Where is Carawirry?
73 Cabbage Tree Road, Main Creek NSW 2420 — about 20 minutes from Dungog. The last 2.7 km is a council‑maintained gravel road; 2WD is fine.

No — most highlights are 2WD‑friendly. Only some swimming holes and dedicated 4WD tracks need a 4WD.
